Submit your talk or workshop to FUN OCaml 2027 in Bengaluru!
FUN OCaml 2027 is a two-day open source hacking event for OCaml enthusiasts and professionals, taking place on January 25–26, 2027 at the MLR Convention Centre in Bengaluru, India. It is hosted by FP Launchpad, the Centre for Functional Systems Research and Education at IIT Madras.
Day 1 is dedicated to talks (including a keynote), Day 2 to hands-on workshops and collaborative hacking on OCaml projects. Registration costs only a symbolic fee, which includes free food and drinks* for all attendees. Talks are live-streamed, and recordings are published on watch.ocaml.org and YouTube.
What we are looking for
We welcome submissions from all experience levels — first-time speakers, industry practitioners, academic researchers, and open source maintainers, from anywhere in the world. Topics include (but are not limited to):
- OCaml in production: architectures, war stories, performance
- The OCaml toolchain and ecosystem: compiler, dune, merlin, LSP, tooling
- Type-driven development, advanced type systems, and language techniques
- Alternative backends and targets (JavaScript, WebAssembly, native)
- Teaching OCaml, onboarding teams, and growing communities
- Open source OCaml projects you want to hack on during the event
- Anything else the OCaml community would enjoy
Formats
- Talk — 25 minutes plus 5 minutes Q&A (Day 1)
- Workshop — 2–3 hours, hands-on, participants should follow along on their laptops (Day 2)
If you have an idea that fits neither format, submit it anyway and tell us what you have in mind.
Speaker support
Limited financial support is available for accepted speakers who need assistance with travel or accommodation.
Please note: we cannot reimburse speakers directly. Instead, we book and pay for your travel and accommodation on your behalf. This policy is required due to money laundering regulations — we are unable to make exceptions. If you would like to request support, indicate this when submitting (there is a question in the form) and we will follow up individually and confidentially.
