Call for Participation

We're looking for presenters (talks or workshops) for FUN OCaml 2025!

Topics we're interested in:
- technical talks, practical-minded tutorials, experience reports from writing OCaml, live-coding, or other demonstrations of OCaml libraries, frameworks, tools, programming concepts / patterns / architecture
- experience reports on OCaml in business, Open Source, or other projects (we're always very curious about data here, e.g. metrics such as memory usage, runtime performance, revenue driven by OCaml, time to market, team size, but we're also very interested in the technical side of the project, in the sense of what does the entire tech stack look like, what OCaml libraries are used and how did these choices work out)
- Open Source hacking sessions
- and more... (see below)

In general, we're looking for sessions that are practical-minded, so we love to see anything about porting code to OCaml, stories about refactoring OCaml or introducing OCaml into codebases, sessions that explain things a pragmatic OCaml developer should know, and anything that helps people use OCaml libraries, frameworks, or tools to their full capability.

Talks are either 25min+10min questions or 30min+5min questions (up to you, but there is a hard limit of 35min for both the talk and questions). Talks will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@FUNOCaml and https://twitch.tv/sabine_sh, as well as published on FUN OCaml's YouTube channel. You can opt out of YouTube publication.

Workshops are 120min hands-on, interactive sessions. You should provide a step-by step tutorial or other materials that enable participants to follow along and try things on their laptops during the session. You are explicitly welcome to propose sessions meant to onboard contributors to your project.

There will also be a special workshop that you can apply to help with:
- OCaml Beginners Workshop (120min)

At our 2025 venue, we have the opportunity to book a green screen room for professional-quality video recordings on day 2. However, we will only do so if there's interest in using it. For example, we could:
- Host a panel discussion on a topic in the green screen room
- Use the green screen room to record tutorials or other content for YouTube
- Come up with something really crazy (please propose something via this CFP) to do with the green screen room

You can make multiple submissions; we will select based on what seems most interesting/useful for an audience of OCaml developers of various skill levels. With a strong proposal, it is possible to give both a talk and a workshop, and, if we book it, in addition use the green screen room.

This event follows the OCaml Code of Conduct, found here: https://ocaml.org/policies/code-of-conduct.

FUN OCaml takes place September 15 + 16, 2025, in Warsaw, Poland.

If you are unable to afford travel and accommodation as a speaker due to your employment situation, please get in touch at speaker-support@fun-ocaml.com. We have a very limited budget to support speakers based on need.
